In Arizona, “Foster Care Adoptions” are usually much more difficult than an Adoption involving a relative. If the child has been in foster care year after year, then the involvement of the Cantor Law Group becomes even more necessary. At the Cantor Law Group we would immediately file a Petition to Terminate the Parental Rights of the biological parents, thereby speeding up the Adoption process. One of the first things the State of Arizona would do is to appoint a “Guardian Ad Litem” who would act as a lawyer on behalf of the child. They would make sure that the child’s rights are protected throughout the process of the determination of Terminating Parental Rights. A Guardian Ad Litem will also be necessary if the biological parents, or relative raising the child are “unfit” to be the child’s parents and are not acting in the “child’s best interests” – and if they are objecting to the Petition for Termination of Parental Rights.
